Paid yearly if you care for a person with a disability or serious illness and receive certain payments.
Eligibility
You can receive the Carer Supplement if you receive:
- Carer Allowance
- Carer Payment
- Wife Pension and Carer Allowance
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Partner Service Pension and Carer Allowance
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Carer Service Pension
You cannot obtain the Carer Supplement if:
- You only have a Carer Allowance Health Care Card. You must get a payment to be eligible.
Note: *You don’t need to apply for the Carer Supplement. Centrelink automatically pays you if you’re eligible. You will get the Carer Supplement each year for as long as you remain eligible.
Payment rates
The supplement is a fixed rate of $600 each year for each eligible payment. You’ll get this amount on top of your regular payment.
