Published on 26 November, 2025

Carers Victoria is extremely pleased to announce that Susan Alberti AC has become the new Board Chair of Carers Victoria.

One of Australia's most influential and decorated philanthropists, Susan brings a profound wealth of experience, energy, and connections to the role, combined with her own deeply personal experiences as a carer.

Susan's illustrious career has made her highly influential across multiple fields, spanning the construction industry, Australian Rules Football, and medical research.

As a highly successful businesswoman, her commitment has always extended far beyond the boardroom. She has a long-standing, significant track record in community service and charitable fundraising, having raised tens of millions of dollars for medical research and community projects.

Susan’s dedication to giving back and her ability to galvanise support will be instrumental in advancing understanding of, and support for, the almost 1 million unpaid carers across Victoria with rural and regional carers a particular area of interest for her. Over coming months, forward to attending to participating in Carers Victoria events and connecting directly with carers, partners and supporters across the state.

A New Chapter For Carers

Susan Alberti AC said of her appointment: "It's an honour to be joining Carers Victoria as its next Chair, and a wonderful chance to influence change for carers as we move into a state election year. Caring for others is the bedrock of a great society and I look forward to raising the profile of carers, and see their needs advanced by people, organisations and leaders across the entire community."

Carers Victoria CEO Judith Abbott said: “We are delighted to welcome Susan to Carers Victoria. Her energy, expertise and networks will help us in our quest to ensure that carers feel seen, heard and included, across the state. I'd also like to pay tribute to the sterling work of our outgoing Chair Callum Ingram who has been a wonderful contributor over his past 10 years on the Board”.
