Carers Victoria is a not-for-profit

Our mixed core funding base provided mostly by the Victorian and Australian governments. Carers Victoria is a Company Limited by Guarantee governed by our Board.

Carers Victoria is a for-purpose organisation, that is regulated by the Australian Charities and Not-for profits Commission (ACNC). 

Carers Victoria is also recognised as a Public Benevolent Organisation by the Australian Taxation Office, because of its charitable purpose. That means that donations made to Carers Victoria are tax deductible.  

Established as a Company Limited by Guarantee, the Carers Victoria Constitution sets out the organisation’s purpose, objectives and the rules for how the organisation is run.

Carers Victoria is governed by a Board of Directors, who are supported in their role by several Board Committees and Working Groups, which comprise a mix of Board Directors and Independent members.

Our Board

Our Board members are passionately committed to improving the lives of carers, and bring a wide range of skills and experience to help us achieve our aims. Many of them also have personal experience of caring.

Executive Team

Judith Abbott, CEO

Judith is a highly qualified and well-rounded senior executive with extensive experience in government, not-for-profit and private organisations. She has particular strengths in organisational strategy, policy and advocacy, planning, and managing through change with a sophisticated understanding of how government works. Judith is an engaging and enthusiastic leader who is also a natural connector with a rich network. She delivers creative and sustainable solutions to complex problems, effectively working in complex and often contested governance and operating environments. She has extensive experience working with boards, committees, ministers and sector leaders. Passionate about improving systems, Judith is skilled at helping organisations develop effective strategy, policy and advocacy approaches that have a positive social impact.

Reporting on our progress

Carers Victoria is proud of the work it does in support of Victorian carers, and each year, issues an Annual Review that tells Victoria’s carers, our organisation’s funders and supporters, and others in the community about what we have achieved – and why our work is so important.

Carers Victoria is also required to submit formal reports to organisations such as the ACNC on its operations, and these can be accessed via the ACNC website.
