Carer Friendly Places

Carer Friendly Places

The Carer Friendly Places project was a collaboration between Neighbourhood Houses Victoria, Carers Victoria and the Municipal Association of Victoria.

Supported by the Victorian Government, it trained 49 councils and 210 Neighbourhood houses to create inclusive environments for people caring for people with a chronic illness, disability, mental illness or addiction, or who has care needs due to aging. The program ceased in 2023, however Carers Victoria continues to support local government and the community sector with relevant and informative professional learning.

You can view the participants of the Carer Friendly Program in the table below. If your organisation, council, or program would like training relating to understanding carers, Carers Victoria offers regular education called ‘Becoming Carer Aware’, free and regular online sessions are available.

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria (NHVic) is the state peak body for Neighbourhood Houses. There are over 400 Neighbourhood Houses across Victoria. For information regarding how a Neighbourhood House in your community supports carers, see NHVic's website or contact carers@nhvic.org.au.

The following Councils and Neighbourhood Houses have completed the Carer Friendly Place training.
