DESCRIPTION:A monthly walking group especially for unpaid older carers or carers of older people. This is a chance to get outdoors\, stay active\, and connect with others. \nFirst Monday every month (except public holidays) meet at the front of South Yarra Senior Citizens Centre in Fawkner Park at 10.45am for an 11am start. From here we will take a walk through Royal Botanic Gardens and finish with a morning tea at 11.30am at Domain Brasserie. \nBookings are required for catering purposes. \nFor carers who live in the City of Melbourne or care for someone who does.

DESCRIPTION:Free online workshops for parents and Year 6 students \nStarting secondary school is an important step for children with disability and their families. With some preparation and planning\, families can help their child feel confident\, supported and ready for a positive start to Year 7. \nACD is excited to offer free online workshops for families as well as a complimentary workshop for students. The student workshop is being delivered by Youth Disability Advocacy Service (YDAS). \nStarting Secondary School: A workshop for families  \nThis workshop will help you feel informed and prepared for the transition journey ahead. \nLearn practical strategies to support a successful start to secondary school\, understand what changes to expect\, and discuss ways to build strong partnerships with your child’s new school. \nIt’s a two-hour online workshop led by facilitators who are parents of children with disability. \nYou’ll learn about: \n\nTransition process from primary to secondary school\nPreparing your child for the changes ahead\nSupporting wellbeing and confidence\nBuilding positive communication with the new school.\n\nWhat other families have said  \nFamilies who attended other school workshops said they were easy to follow\, relatable\, and delivered in a friendly way. \n\n“The presenters were great and made everything feel relatable and easy to follow.”\n“Very informative\, with lots of helpful links and resources I can revisit later.”\n“Clear\, easy-to-understand information with great examples.”\n\nComplimentary workshop for your child who is starting secondary school  \nThis 90-minute online workshop provides a welcoming and inclusive space for students with disability to build confidence\, learn practical skills and connect with other young people who are also preparing for Year 7. \nStudents will:   \n\nMeet other students with disability who are preparing for secondary school\nTalk about what to expect when starting Year 7\nPractice ways to ask for help and speak up about what they need\nCreate a personalised checklist to help them feel organised\, prepared and confident.\n\nLed by young people with lived experience\, this workshop encourages students to develop self-advocacy skills\, make meaningful connections and feel more confident about the transition ahead. \nLearn more and register.

SUMMARY:Carer Walk at Mildura Riverfront
DESCRIPTION:The Pathways for Carers walks offers carers of people with a disability or mental illness an opportunity to share walks together and to learn more about news\, services and supports available to carers. \nWe offer monthly guided walks along the Mildura riverfront\, providing people with a chance to get out and take a break from their normal caring responsibilities and have time to connect with other carers. \nWe will be joined on the walk by representatives from local organisations. \nThe walk is along Mildura’s riverfront meeting at 9.45 am  for 10.00am walk at Bobbie & Me Cafe –  Nowingi Place and takes place on the               3rd Wednesday of each month. \nA free coffee/hot drink from a local café is included in the walk. \n
