Build skills and confidence to advocate with your local MP for change and help us achieve a different and better future for Victoria’s unpaid carers! \nAbout this event:\nCome along to this practical workshop designed to help you engage with Carers Victoria’s ‘Carers Count’ preelection campaign. Carers Victoria has developed tools and resources to help carers advocate for change and help us achieve a better future for Victoria’s unpaid carers. \nBy the end of this workshop\, you will have built your skills and confidence to engage with the tools and resources for our Carers Count Campaign. You will: \n\nknow what you want to say to your local MP to help make life fairer for carers\, using Carers Victoria’s five-point plan as a reference\n\n\nconfidently submit your advocacy letter or perhaps ask for a meeting with your local member of Parliament\n\n\nbe able to share this information with other carers and the wider community and download resources (like a poster for example) to assist you to spread the word.\n\nPlease note:\nYou will receive a short 20-minute background film prior to the workshop to inspire you before we get started. We invite you to view the video before the session if you can. \nLocation:\nThis is an online event and will be held on MS Teams. A link will be provided upon registration. \nWho should attend:\nThis session is open to all carers and their families\, carer support group facilitators and leaders who would like to learn how to share Carers Victoria’s tool kit and resources with their group. \nRegistration: \nAttendance is free\, but registration is required. \nAbout the presenters:\nKim Repcak and Sally Camilleri are Carer Educators at Carers Victoria. The success of the founding Canberra Alchemy Chorus has strongly informed UMFC’s approach in developing a local choir that fosters connection\, joy\, and wellbeing for participants and their carers. \nJoin the Chorus!\nUMFC have established an inclusive chorus which can be enjoyed by people living with dementia\, their carers and volunteers. DESCRIPTION:A monthly walking group especially for unpaid older carers or carers of older people. This is a chance to get outdoors\, stay active\, and connect with others. \nFirst Monday every month (except public holidays) meet at the front of South Yarra Senior Citizens Centre in Fawkner Park at 10.45am for an 11am start. From here we will take a walk through Royal Botanic Gardens and finish with a morning tea at 11.30am at Domain Brasserie. \nBookings are required for catering purposes. \nFor carers who live in the City of Melbourne or care for someone who does.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informative NDIS Workshop: What Is Good Evidence? \nUnderstanding what evidence is needed can make a significant difference when accessing and maintaining NDIS supports. This workshop will explain the types of evidence that strengthen applications\, reviews\, and funding requests\, helping carers feel more confident in navigating the NDIS. \nThis event is free to attend\, and morning tea is provided. Preschool aged children (0-6 years) are welcome. While you join the session\, a MyTime play leader will engage your children in meaningful play nearby. \nMyTime is a peer support program for parents and carers of children with disabilities\, developmental delays\, or chronic medical conditions. It offers connection\, support\, and resources in a safe and welcoming space. \nEligibility: Open to parents and carers of children up to 18 years of age with disability\, developmental delay\, or chronic medical conditions. RSVP: Spaces are limited—registration is essential.

DESCRIPTION:We are visiting Loft 275 – community gallery at Ivanhoe Library run by City of Banyule. Loft 275 is flexible gallery space is for Banyule-based artists and community cultural groups. DESCRIPTION:Music Boosts Wellbeing\nUpper Murray Family Care was passionate about making the UMFC Alchemy Chorus a reality. Multiple studies have demonstrated that music can support brain health and emotional wellbeing with people living with dementia. The success of the founding Canberra Alchemy Chorus has strongly informed UMFC’s approach in developing a local choir that fosters connection\, joy\, and wellbeing for participants and their carers. \nJoin the Chorus!\nUMFC have established an inclusive chorus which can be enjoyed by people living with dementia\, their carers and volunteers.
