DESCRIPTION:Calling all young carers! We’ve got some exciting news. \nFrom 2 March to 31 July 2026\, Carer Gateway is running the Young Carer Art Competition\, and there are some huge prizes up for grabs. \nCreate a drawing\, painting\, photograph or other artwork on paper or canvas inspired by the theme ‘Your Art\, Your Voice’. The best entries will be showcased at a Young Carer Art Exhibition later in the year. \nHow to Enter: \n\nRegister with Carer Gateway for free: Call 1800 422 737 (Mon–Fri\, 8am–5pm) or fill out this form to start the registration process. Our Carer Gateway team will discuss how we can support your caring role.\nSubmit your artwork: Take a photo of your artwork and email it to CGCarerEngagement@holstephealth.org.au\, along with a short paragraph explaining your piece\, before July 31st.\n\nWho can enter: The competition is open to young carers aged 25 or under who care for a family member\, friend or loved one\, even if it’s only for a few hours a week. If this applies to someone you know – tell them to get involved! \nHow to win a prize: We’re taking submissions from all young carers\, but if you want to be in the running to win a prize you will need to be registered with Carer Gateway (it’s free!). \nThe competition is open across three age groups: \n\n12 and under\n13–18 years\n19–25 years\n\nPrizes for each age group: \n\n1st prize: $500\n2nd prize: $250\n3rd prize: $100\n\nImportant Dates: \n\nCompetition closes: 31 July 2026\nWinners announced: 31 August 2026\n\nWe can’t wait to see what you come up with! \nPlease note: You must be registered with Carer Gateway by 14 August to be eligible for prizes. SUMMARY:Carer Connect – Equine Assisted Learning
DESCRIPTION:Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) offers physically and psychologically safe experiences with horses. \nEAL gives participants an opportunity to explore issues or feelings that may be troublig them. It also provides a safe space to simply enjoy being with the peaceful horses. \nNo riding is involved in this practice. Individuals do not need to have had experience with horses to participate. \nThis is a Carer specific program where previous participants have found it to be transformative for their caring role. \nCarers need to be available to attend all 4 sessions to garner the full benefit of the program. That’s why I’m running Alongside You – a small\, warm support group created especially for people in a caring role. Whether you’re caring for an elderly parent\, a partner\, a child\, or someone else close to you\, this is a space where you don’t have to explain yourself. You’ll be among people who truly understand. \nOver four weekly sessions\, we’ll come together to: \n\nConnect with others who get it\nShare experiences in a safe and supportive space\nRebuild a sense of balance\, hope\, and strength\nExplore gentle tools to support your own wellbeing\n\nPlease see the attached Flyer. It also provides a safe space to simply enjoy being with the peaceful horses. \nNo riding is involved in this practice. Individuals do not need to have had experience with horses to participate. \nThis is a Carer specific program where previous participants have found it to be transformative for their caring role. \nCarers need to be available to attend all 4 sessions to garner the full benefit of the program. This relaxed community day is all about giving carers a chance to step away from the daily routine\, meet others who truly understand the caring journey\, and dive into activities that spark joy\, boost wellbeing\, and build confidence. \nEnjoy hands on creative workshops\, engaging information sessions\, rest and reset experiences\, a friendly providers expo\, and plenty of delicious\, shared food in a warm and welcoming space \nThis event has been kindly sponsored by Southern Grampians Shire Council as part of their Community Partnership Grant Program. \nWho can attend \nThis event is designed for carers who live in South West region of Victoria. \nPlease note \nCarers are welcome to join in as much or as little of the day as they wish and may arrive or leave at any time that suits them. \nRegistrations \nEvent is free\, however registration is essential.

SUMMARY:Wellbeing Workshops for Carers
DESCRIPTION:Wellbeing Workshops for Carers is a free\, 10-week program designed to support carers to focus on their own health and wellbeing in a welcoming\, supportive environment. \nThe weekly sessions use gentle movement\, circus-inspired activities and creative play to reduce stress\, build confidence and encourage connection with others who share similar caring experiences. Sessions are relaxed\, non-competitive and adaptable\, with space to move at your own pace. \nWho is it for? \nThese workshops are for carers aged 18+ of any gender\, including those providing paid or unpaid support to someone with illness\, disability\, mental health needs or age-related frailty. \nNo prior experience is required\, and all activities are tailored to suit different bodies\, abilities\, cultural backgrounds and comfort levels. \nDates: \nWeekly sessions from Monday 20 April – Monday 29 June\, 1:30PM-3pm \n(No workshop on 8 June – King’s Birthday Public Holiday) \nYou can book for in for individual sessions or a package: sessions 1-5 or 6-10. \nWhere: \nWomen’s Circus\, 395 Barkly Street\, Footscray VIC \n  \nPresented by Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) and Women’s Circus.
